The Giant Mountain Rabbit is known to exist in only one valley of the Hindu Kush. It is so rare that it’s never been photographed and is known to science by only one specimen kept by the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. The specimen has no collection date and no information about who collected it. The tag simply says ‘Oryctolagus gigantus, Khub Valley, Afghanistan’. The image on this T-shirt was made from a direct observation of that specimen, whose ears alone measured an incredible 53cm in length.
